If 39A is stopped in Sankhli, why not all over Goa, asks Justice Rebello in a letter to CM

In the background of Goa Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant stopping conversion of land in his Sankhli constituency, Dr Justice Ferdino Rebello has written to the CM, demanding to stop land conversions under section 39A of the Goa Town and Country Planning Act all across Goa.

In a letter dated 7 April, Convenor of ‘Enough is Enough’ movement Dr Justice Rebello has pointed out that CM has exercised his legal authority to stop land conversions under section 39A in Harmal in Pedne, Siridao in Tiswadi and Sankhli. He should exercise same powers to stop land conversions all across Goa, he added.

He has also urged Dr Sawant to reconvene the Assembly session and pass the comprehensive land protection bill he had drafted and moved by the opposition members in order to stop destruction of green land of Goa.

In view of this, Dr Justice Rebello also demanded that all the permissions under Section 39A be rolled back and an inquiry by conducted into each of the permissions granted.
